13:30	Ice breaker activity led by Marcell Kenesei from Centropa:  Participants meet in country groups in the conference room for 15 minutes. Each participant introduces themselves, and group will appoint a person who will summarize. Appointed leader will introduce each group member, and give a three minute summary: - three things everyone is wrong about when they speak of your country; - three reasons why people from your country are the best partners for cross-cultural projects (this is not meant to be entirely serious)
14:15	Eight teachers, eight Centropa projects. Think speed-dating. Eight teachers will have five minutes to present eight different Centropa projects to groups of ten participants. After five minutes, each group will move on to the next presentation. Bring something for taking notes - you’ll hear a lot of creative teaching ideas!	Plenary room, Qubus

16:00	Buses take us to historic city center for walking tour of the Old Town. Krakow is the only major city in Poland to emerge from World War II mostly undamaged. We will first visit the bustling Stare Miasto, Krakow’s old town, and then tour Wawel Hill, the ancient seat of Poland’s kings.
19:00	Walking tour ends at Jama Mihalika Cafe (located at Floriańska Street 45 in the old town) for our welcome dinner.

Presentation of Border Jumping site and screening of three short student films from Poland, Israel and Bulgaria. 9:15	Brief presentations by several Polish teachers and one US teacher on how to use the Teofila Silberring story in class (Beata Gendek Barhoumi, Agnieszka Kania, Beata Skuza, Agnieszka Baginska and Anthony Ludwig). Participants are encouraged to ask the presenters details  about their lessons  throughout the conference.
9:45	Walking tour of Teofila Silberring’s Krakow. Group A and B begin with the ghetto period of her story (Podgorze); Group C crosses the river and begins tour in Kazimierz; visit the Remuh synagogue (interior) and Jewish museum. Coffee and bathroom break during walk tour (at Galicia Jewish Museum). Water bottles will be provided at beginning of tour.
12:45	Visit to the Galicia Jewish Museum. Introductory meeting of elective groups - sit together while eating lunch; discuss why they chose this elective, how a lesson on this topic will help their curriculum.

Wednes- day, 8 July

10:00	Arrive in Auschwitz; tour of the barracks starts at 10:30.  After the tour participants will have 45 minutes to visit the pavilions. Followed by guided visit of Birkenau.

17:00	Conference room. Groups meet, discuss the day and reflect on what they learned and how they will share their experience with their students. NOTE: German and Polish teachers will meet separately in room G to reflect the visit to Auschwitz, and to discuss the state of Holocaust education in their countries. Our Polish teachers will take German teachers to two museums: 1) Schindler`s Factory and / or the MOCAK. The MOCAK exhibition „Poland-Israel-Germany: The experience of Auschwitz“.

	Although it is a museum on the German occupation of Krakow, not very much on Schindler, we recommend a  visit of Schindler’s Factory (Lipowa Street 4). Staff will walk you to the museum at 17:45 (10 minutes from Qubus Hotel); last admission at museum at 6:30, museum will close at 8pm. Note: Since this is not part of the official CSA program, participants have to pay the entrance free (19 PLN, which equals around 4.50€).
Thursday, 9 July, Krakow

8:30	Lecture on New Developments in Coming to Terms with Collective Memory of the Shoah in Post-1989 Poland in the Context of Global Education about the Holocaust by  Dr. Jolanta Ambrosewicz-Jacobs, Director of the Center for Holocaust Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. Followed by discussion.

Friday 10 July
8:30	Buses depart from hotel to conference venue: the head office of Gazeta Wyborcza, one of Poland’s major newspapers. Gazeta was first published on 8 May 1989, under the motto, "Nie ma wolności bez Solidarności" ("There's no freedom without Solidarity”.)  The first legal newspaper not controlled by Poland’s Communist government, Gazeta became the voice of Solidarity during the run-up to elections in June 1989 (hence its name, which translates as “Electoral Gazette”).
9:00	Opening words by Edward Serotta, Director of Centropa.   Panel 1: When Civil society changed our world --the Civil Rights movement in the USA, Professor Bohdan Szklarski (American Studies Center, University of Warsaw). Response by Professor Jon Hale (Civil Rights historian at the College of Charleston) --Solidarity in Poland:  Ewa Kulik-Bielińska, who worked as a Solidarity activist and then a journalist for The Independent (UK) in 1989, will speak on the 1980s in Poland, and how civil society, through Solidarity, brought down Communist rule. Piotr Stasinski, deputy editor-in-chief at Gazeta Wyborcza, an activist in Solidarity throughout the 1980s, will also speak on civil society, underground publications and police harassment. Shana Penn, (Taube Foundation for Jewish Life and Culture), author of Solidarity’s Secret: The Women Who Defeated Communism in Poland, will shed light on the hidden leadership role of Polish women in the 1980s.  Adam Musial, Polish teacher from Krakow, will give remarks on how the Solidarity Movement is being taught in Polish schools.

Presentations on How to teach German-Jewish history and Polish-Jewish history (Andreas Breunig, Mannheim; Michael Heitz et al, Jewish Life Kraichgau; Beata Skuza, Joanna Zimnowoda, Wroclaw, Jacek Jaros, Kielce). We will also view and discuss student films and a short Centropa movie about Erna Goldmann, a Jewish Holocaust survivor from Frankfurt am Main. German and Polish participants will then discuss ways how to implement the expert lectures from Friday as well from our days in Krakow in their classrooms.

13:40	Meet in Conference room. Helise Liebermann will introduce the Taube Foundation, the Taube Center and the guides, the role of the walking workshops (in four groups) within the program. Prepare for tour of Warsaw ghetto and Jewish cemetery.
14:00	Group A I and II:  Bus will depart for the Jewish Cemetery on Okopowa Street.  The visit focuses on transmitting 200 years of Warsaw’s Jewish history through specific personalities, matzevot (tombstones) and several sections of the cemetery. Group B I and II:  Group I will begin the walking tour on the Museum Plaza and follow the Memorial Route of Martyrdom and Struggle to the Umschlagplatz and then back to the Museum; Group II will begin the walking workshop at the Willy Brandt memorial in front of the Polin, walk to the Umschlagplatz and return to Museum Plaza via Memorial Route of Martyrdom and Struggle.
